Guide to the archives
The following pages detail some of the archives
in the custody of the Record Office. The guide is divided into eight sections.
- Public Records deposited under Section 4 of
the Public Records Act of 1958 and presentations under section 3(6) of the
same Act
- Records of Estates are papers concerning
important families of Greater Manchester. Some of the papers go back to the
14th century
- Business records detail the great industrial
heritage of the North West of England
- Groups and societies relate to Trade Unions,
charities and organisations of the area
- Deeds concern collections of legal papers
relating to land throughout Greater Manchester.
- Other Sources. This section lists the
newspapers, maps, and Trade Directories in our custody.
- Small Collections of deeds, photographs, plans
and Acts of Parliament.
- Recent Accessions provides an update on
accruals and new deposit at the County Record Office
