Guide to Collections
The following pages detail some of the archives in the custody of the Record Office.
The guide is divided into eight sections
- Public Records deposited under Section 4 of the Public Records Act of 1958 and presentations under section 3(6) of the same Act
- Records of Estates are papers concerning important families of Greater Manchester. Some of the papers go back to the 14th century Business records detail the great industrial heritage of the North West of England
- Groups and societies relate to Trade Unions, charities and organisations of the area
- Deeds concern collections of legal papers relating to land throughout Greater Manchester.
- Other Sources. This section lists the newspapers, maps, and Trade Directories in our custody.
- Small Collections of deeds, photographs, plans and Acts of Parliament
- Recent Accessions provides an update on accruals and new deposit at the County Record Office
